New Projects

  • Become involved with the Maitland Neighbourhood Centre assisting with BBQ's and entertainment for local families - provided the BBQ when promoting White Ribbon Day, NAIDOC event and other community activities.
  • Identifying a local grandmother who is the carer for her grandchildren, and funding a holiday to the Gold Coast fulfilling a long term wish.
  • The June 2007 long weekend floods made members aware that although they wanted to step up and help, government and OH&S laws prevented us from doing so. Members have attended the appropriate training sessions to become accredited to work on the food trailers as part of the Salvation Army Emergency Services Disaster Relief team(s). Members have since volunteered at Brisbane and Tully after the floods of early 2011.
  • Manning the Bunning's BBQ and more recently Masters BBQ, raises funds for our community service account.
  • Members assisting Heal for Life (Healing Program for adults who have been abused) fundraising by wrapping Xmas gifts at Charlestown Square; providing breakfast cereals and other necessary equipment.
  • Assistance to the Lions Club of Raymond Terrace run Driver Reviver stop during holidays.
  • Involvement with local Primary schools during Christmas (Wishing Tree for the Salvation Army), and the making cards which are handed out at local nursing homes on Mother's Day.
  • Assisting with the establishment of a sensory garden for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) erecting new fencing, realigning old fencing, making a trail, planting the gardens.
